Unleash the Fun!

Let’s rally together as a community and raise some funds to improve the Rick Barker Dog Park, with the permission of Idyllwild Community Center and Idyllwild Pines Camp.

The dog park is in need of:

* General weeding and abatement

* Dozens of cubic yards of clean fill

* Regrading

* Fence repairs

* And more?! Open to suggestions from all!

If you wish to contribute a monetary donation, please visit our GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/f/idyllwild-dog-park-2026-fundraiser

All donations from this GoFundMe will be released to a PNC bank account established solely for this purpose, and all labour and materials will be paid for from that account with full accounting transparency posted on this page, or available to anyone who emails info@idydogpark.com or texts 424-543-4354 and requests a report.

If you are afraid of GoFundMe or don’t want to pay processing fees, donations can be dropped off directly at the Idyllwild PNC Bank branch, ACCT# 3832515449, under the name Calandra Squires.

Don’t want to contribute actual dollars? Keep your eye on this site for details and come on out to the bash later this summer!

Have Improvement Ideas?

Here’s a summary of ideas captured from the Facebook posts. Feel free to comment more ideas below, or email them to info@idydogpark.com or by text to 424-543-4354.

  • Would love to see the bottom of the chain link fences placed in cement so the gaps are gone. Small dogs can push right under there. Wonder if someone would donate their time and resources to do that. It’s been a problem for years. We’ve all tried different ways to fix that, but I think cement would be the best option. (Barb Reese)
  • Maybe grass? Plants? Love this. (Lili Charmoz)
  • Just an idea. Rick Barker and I were the first ones to use the dog park a long time ago going there 2-3 times a day. Along came others. It would be nice if they had a dog hall of fame or legends of the park posted there for fun that were the original dogs there. Dogs like Stavaro, Maverick, Zues, Bella, Macko, Gracie, Lula, Freida. Also, the park is called the Rick Barker Dog Park, not the Idyllwild Community Dog Park. (Glen Canale)
  • I wonder if it’s feasible to have a poop bag Dispenser on each side because a big problem is people NOT picking up after their dogs. The scooper and shovels are fine but if there was also something easily accessible maybe it would be easier. I carry my own baggies but I don’t see many others doing the same. (Laura Huff)
  • I’d like to know if any of the abatement and weeding can be done with volunteers from the community. If there’s a way to organize that I would like to also volunteer. Saving on labor costs in the fundraising process and more proceeds can go to infrastructure. (Patrick J. Pearson)
